In 2001 six issues of Estraveller will be published, all of them full colour 100 pages.

Cover Story: In addition to its usual inbound and outbound travel services, Estravel also offers lodging and recreation to domestic clients, looking for a short holiday in Estonia. "We have very good co-operation with hotels and tourist farms all over Estonia, and due to our large purchasing volume, we are able to negotiate the best prices," says Anne Samlik, General Manager of Estravel.

Estonia: Says Ellen Aunin, project leader of Estonian Tourist Board: "There are many hidden secrets in South Estonia. You can enjoy wonderful sceneries, participate in activities and travel through different cultures." South Estonia is the only region in Estonia with two seasons, both summer and winter.

Travel Experience: Eneli Jänes, travel manager of Toyota Balti AS - a loyal customer of Estravel, spent a few days on Ruhnu and fell in love with the tiny island in the Baltic Sea. "You can have as good a rest in Estonia as in Austria, but it will cost you seven times less," Eneli says.

Cruise: In the 2nd article of his cruise series, written specially for Estraveller, international travel and cruise journalist Timo Kauppinen gives us advice how to pick the right cruise. "The most important thing is to choose the itinerary and the ship," says Kauppinen, "and it is essential to do some home-work before the decision."

Partner: Hotel Latvija in Riga opened its doors after full renovation. The 26-storey building has been regarded as one of the landmarks and best-known hotels of the Latvian capital. After renovation there are 382 cosy rooms and the best-equipped conference centre in Riga.

Destination: Costa del Sol is one of the most popular Mediterranean holiday destinations among Estonians. 325 days of sunshine per year, clear sea water, golden beaches. Says José Miquel, manager of Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki: "The infrastructure of Costa del Sol is so well developed that it guarantees the best quality and price ratio. And just

a few kilometres inland you find superb white villages and quiet everyday life, as if tourists did not exist."

Destination: "Berlin is a big metropole," says Terhi Paavola of Silja Line, "it is nine times bigger that Paris, it is always busy and ready to offer anything the visitors wish. The fine network of S-Bahn, U-Bahn, busses and trams enables you to get anywhere quick and easy. It is easy to go there and it is interesting to be there." Silja Line's ferry Finnjet takes passengers from Tallinn to Rostock in 21 hours, and Berlin is almost there.

Estravel: Estravel has seven sales offices in Estonia: five in Tallinn, one in Pärnu and one in Tartu. In June, the Tartu office is moving to a new address, Vallikraavi 2. "It is a superb location," says Sirje Volmre, manager of Tartu Estravel, "on the so-called banks' cross-roads, where many people pass every day."

Travel Experience: "It was like Hollywood, or travelling into our own distant past," says Veigo Kell after his visit to Cuba. "People standing in queues, empty shelves at shops, streets full of old American and Soviet cars. The trip was extremely interesting, but the time seems to have stopped in Cuba." Mr. Kell did not stay at Varadero beach resort like most foreigners do, but wandered around the country on his own and witnessed the real life.

The voyage from Finland to Germany will take 22 hours.

Travel Experience: "Give your Moms and Dads a trip to a sunny beach," suggests Toomas Alatalu, one of the best-known figures in Estonian politics and academics. The retired people in Estonia lack both the tradition of foreign travel as well as the resources. Therefore it is their children's task to give them a trip as a present," says Mr Alatalu who himself took his 80-year-old mother to Cyprus.

Estravel has introduced an internet application WebMarine (http://www.webmarine.ee) which enables every PC-owner to book a ferry or catamaran ticket from Tallinn to Helsinki or vice versa through internet and even to print out the ticket at once, without getting up from the computer. "The system is very simple and very informative at the same time," says Andres Kreegipuu, Vice President of Estravel and the main creator of WebMarine. "It provides information about all carriers operating the Tallinn-Helsinki line, all departures and prices. Payment can be transacted at once too, through Hansabank or Ühispank internet banking system link in the system."

Markku Marttinen, Finnish travel writer and journalist, visited Turkey a few weeks ago and now shares his travel impressions of that interesting country with readers of Estraveller. "It is an astonishing mixture of the past and the present," Marttinen says, "and there is no experience like Hamam, the Turkish bath."
